The sun is shining, the school holidays are almost upon us and it’s time to get out and explore the great outdoors. An essential part of a good day out has to be the picnic.
You’ve dusted off the cool box but what to put in it?
Picnics were a huge part of my childhood and whatever we had seemed wonderful because we ate it outdoors. Looking back it was probably ham sandwiches but to me it was as magical as something the Famous Five would have had, always accompanied by lashings of ginger beer.
My children’s overwhelming favourite thing to put in a picnic is scotch eggs. They say it is because we could only ever have them when we visited England in the summer,
